Back to School Checklist

08/01/2026

This may not be your typical back to school checklist, but here are 5 things to check when installing your child’s car seat:

  1. Harness straps are in the proper slots.
  2. Chest clip is at armpit level.
  3. Harness is buckled and tightened.
  4. Correct seat belt path used.
  5. Car seat securely installed.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends all children ride in a child safety seat until the vehicle seat belt fits properly, typically when they have reached 4 feet 9 inches in height AND are 8 to 12 years of age.
