The Southwest Management District has been recognized by the Texas Economic Development Council(TEDC)with its 2025 Economic Excellence Recognition.

The prestigious honor is awarded to economic development organizations that demonstrate professionalism,strong governance and a clear commitment to advancing economic growth.

“This recognition is awarded to organizations that meet a level of professionalism amongst their board and staff,which includes certifications,training,programs and policies that promote and elevate the economic development initiatives of the District.”

The Southwest Management District was one of 85 economic development organizations in the State of Texas to receive this recognition,which was formally awarded at the TEDC’s Winter Conference on Friday,February 27,in El Paso,Texas.During the conference,the TEDC announced the full list of awardees and celebrated their contributions to economic development across the state.

The Economic Excellence Recognition program highlights organizations that:

• Demonstrate strong professional development of their governing board or council
• Maintain highly qualified economic development directors and professional staff
• Invest in certifications,professional memberships and ongoing training
• Implement policies and programs that strengthen organizational effectiveness

Established in 1961,the Texas Economic Development Council is an Austin-based,statewide,non-profit professional association dedicated to expanding economic and employment opportunities in Texas.

The overarching objective of the TEDC is to support Texas’s economic growth and help organizations such as the Southwest Management District develop and implement strategies to attract investment,create jobs and improve the quality of life.
