Houston foodies are buzzing about Le Kream and its eye-catching,cube-shaped croissants.Propelled by a wave of social media,the croissants — referred to as “Kream Bombs”— often sell out.

But I want to shine a light on another delectable offering at the Southwest Management District pastry shop:the cup of mini croissants served with a small cup of cream in various flavors—just like those found in the bombs—on the side.

Think of them as the donut holes of croissants,but infinitely more exciting as far as I’m concerned.

With the perfect crunch and an impressive flake,and costing just $4,every bite is a delightful experience.While the cube-shaped croissants are more visually stunning,they aren’t exactly suitable for enjoying on the go or while multitasking,such as when you’re deep into an article.

Meanwhile,mini croissants are a traveler’s friend.You can pop the cup into your car’s cup holder.And the cup comes with a top so that you can pop it into your bag.

During a recent visit,my friend and I decided to share a cup of these mini delights alongside our morning coffee.As we were also sharing other pastries,we didn’t finish the cup,and I reluctantly allowed her to take the remaining mini croissants to work with her.On my drive back home,I regretted that decision.Those little lovelies have been on my mind ever since.

Thankfully,Le Kream,conveniently located at Bellaire Food Street(9393 Bellaire Blvd.),is open daily.The shop opened its doors last summer.

When you walk in,you may not immediately find the big draw,the café’s cube-shaped croissants,but take a peek into the refrigerated display case.

Lines and lines of beautiful cubes,all generously filled and then topped with flavored creams like yuzu,matcha,or pistachio,and many more,make for a stunning display.

Blending classic French elements with Asian flavors,it’s a treat that’s as pleasing to the palate as it is to the eyes or on your Instagram feed.Each cube costs $6.50.

Le Kream also offers a selection of trendy coffees and drinks,including specialty ones like the“Kream Spanner,”based on the Einspanner Vienna Latte — a strong,creamy,and sweet Austrian coffee.

For me,though,an iced Americano was on order.The helpful clerk warned me that there was no cream or sugar in that particular coffee.

No problem.I’ll take mine with a side of mini croissants and a cup of cream,please.
