As you know, the city of Houston has faced many challenges within the Solid Waste Department, resulting in a backlog of heavy trash and tree waste collection. The District J office has received many complaints from residents about the delay in pickup, so we have created a pilot supplemental solution to help address this issue, and we would like your help in getting the word out to residents in our district.
In an effort to help collect heavy trash, solely for District J residents, my office has organized a one-day trash collection service taking place Saturday, January 22, 2022. This private curb-side service is limited to 1,500 residents and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. To register for heavy trash/tree waste collection at your home, click here to complete the request form. If you do not have access to the internet, please call 832-393-3369 to register by phone. The deadline to register for pickup is January 15, 2022. We encourage you to please share this information with all your neighbors to enhance awareness.
On January 22nd, we will also offer 7 large monitored dumpsters conveniently located around District J for those who are unable to register for curb-side service, where you can arrange to personally haul your heavy trash and tree waste. Locations for the 7 dumpsters will be disclosed soon.
As a reminder, residents are limited to discarding no more than eight (8) cubic yards of waste. This is total for heavy trash and tree waste on January 22nd. Also, be mindful that since this is a supplemental program, trash will not be separated for recycling. Homeowners who hire contractors for tree removal or trimming are responsible for discarding their own debris.
Going into the new year after the holidays we know that many of you will have extra items to discard. We sincerely hope you will take advantage of this opportunity as we all work together to keep District J beautiful.
Together we will!
Edward
