This Ramadan, Give Where the Need is the Greatest

Happy Kareem to all those observing the blessed month!

This Ramadan use the power of your generosity to make a difference in the lives of others in our community. When you make a contribution to Culture of Health – Advancing Together (CHAT) you are helping us foster the health and well-being of immigrant and refugee communities through the education, arts, advocacy and access to care… you are giving to an organization impacting those with the most need right here in our community

CHAT was founded in 2015 to serve Houston’s refugee and immigrant population, primarily those residing in the Gulfton/ Sharpstown area in Southwest Houston. Our founding vision was to build a healthy community that is self-sufficient and meets the everyday challenges of living in a diverse society.

Every day, around 45,000 new people flee persecution and wars in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe, seeking asylum at the hands of international mercy. Houston has emerged as the United States’ most welcoming city for refugees. CHAT is able to improve immigrant and refugee health and well-being by reducing isolation, facilitating acculturation, and connecting resources unlike any other existing organization in Houston.

Why give with CHAT during Ramadan?

When families are uncertain about where to go for help or how to navigate this new city, our staff and volunteers are there to guide them.
When new students, especially school-age girls, find it difficult to adjust due to a wide gap in culture and services, our staff and volunteers are there to provide social and emotional support.
When parents are unable to assist their children with homework and other basic needs, our afterschool and in-school programs are where they turn to get assistance – in their own language and culture.
When local government and outreach service providers need to engage Houston’s immigrant and refugee community, CHAT is who they reach out to get the job done.

Your support means CHAT can continue operating its vital programs and services in the Gulfton area. It also means we can continue helping more people, without turning anyone away.

As you break your fast every night this month, with family and friends, remember the underprivileged of our community that are looking up to us! Support CHAT and help a refugee in need today. CHAT is ZAKAT eligible!
