Club Creek Park&the Houston Vietnam Veterans Memorial continue to gain widespread recognition as one of Southwest Houston’s most impactful public space projects,earning multiple prestigious awards for its design,innovation,and community significance.

Most recently,the project was honored at the Urban Land Institute (ULI)Houston Development of Distinction Awards,where it received both the Open Space Award and the 2026 People’s Choice Award,the latter reflecting strong public support and community pride.

In addition,the project was recognized by the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) as a winner in the 2025 Parks and Natural Areas Awards Program in the On-the-Ground Project Over $500,000 category.This regional program highlights best practices and innovative approaches to parks planning and implementation,with more than 300 projects recognized since its inception.

Developed by the TIRZ 20 Southwest Houston Redevelopment Authority,Club Creek Park represents a transformative investment in both infrastructure and community.What was once a flood-prone tract along Brays Bayou has been reimagined into a vibrant public space that serves multiple purposes—enhancing flood resilience,providing recreational amenities,and creating a place of reflection and remembrance.

At the heart of the park is the Houston Vietnam Veterans Memorial,which honors more than 500 Houston-area service members who lost their lives in the Vietnam War.The site offers residents and visitors a meaningful place to gather,reflect,and connect with the community’s shared history.

The project was made possible through collaboration between the TIRZ 20 Southwest Houston Redevelopment Authority,with the City of Houston Council Member Edward Pollard, Harris County Flood Control District,the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, along with the work of our design partners SWA,Walter P Moore.

Together,these recognitions underscore the power of thoughtful planning and partnership in delivering projects that not only address critical infrastructure needs but also elevate the quality of life.Club Creek Park stands as a lasting example of how investment in public spaces can honor the past while building a stronger,more resilient future for Southwest Houston.
