Friends,
A few months ago, we shared statistics from the Houston Police Department that showed the effectiveness of collaborative efforts to reduce prostitution and human trafficking along the Bissonnet Corridor. We saw a dramatic decline in the first quarter of the year, and we’re pleased to see that the downward trend continues throughout the first half of 2024.
Prostitution-related crimes in District J have seen a dramatic decline. Instances of prostitution offenses have dropped from 146 to 30 (79% decrease). Prostitution purchasing as dropped from 178 instances to 4 (98% decrease). The number of human trafficking incidents has dropped from 14 to 4 (71% decrease). In total, there has been an 88% decrease in these crimes within District J since this time last year.
Thanks to the work of many agencies, local businesses and community leaders, we’ve been able to implement key strategies that have made an incredible difference in this community.
The Bissonnet Corridor is evolving into a safer, cleaner, and more vibrant community, proving that when we unite, we can create meaningful, long-lasting change.
Together we will!
