Formed by Southwest Management District Chairman Kenneth Li, the District’s Chinatown Public Safety Subcommittee met today with police officers and others, exchanging ideas and information about how to deter emerging crimes such as thefts from mailboxes, thefts of motor vehicles’ catalytic converters and trespassing on commercial property.

Working also with Peter Acquaro, the District’s public safety committee chairman, the group emphasizes educating businesses owners and others in multiple languages about best ways to protect their properties and how to enhance police efforts to put a lid on crime.

The subcommittee focuses on the area bounded by Harwin Drive on the north, Gessner Road on the east, Beechnut Street on the south and Beltway 8 on the west. However the District continues to provide crime-fighting resources across its entire service area, including Sharpstown, the Gandhi District and the Bissonnet corridor.
