The Thomas Telegraph Vol. 6, Issue 11 – June 24, 2024

It has been a productive couple of weeks at City Council. The body passed the City of Houston’s $7.3 billion budget and $650 million firefighter settlement. District F has been active in the community. From a packed June swim clinic and a thriving youth-led conference to activations with Alief ISD to support summer jobs, we are working hard for all constituents. 

Fire safety is public safety. As part of my Summer of Safety initiative, I am announcing a collaboration with the Houston Fire Department (HFD) to promote fire safety and prevention ahead of July 4th. This initiative ensures all residents have crucial safety information to prevent fire-related accidents during the holiday. 

We will canvass the Collingham Apartment Complex (10800 Kipp Way Dr, Houston, TX 77099). Recent fires in the area, especially at multi-family properties, underscore the importance of this level of outreach. Education and preparedness are paramount when considering that we can save someone’s life and/or property.

Public safety remains a top priority for District F. As you may have seen, 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray’s life was taken too early. We must protect our communities by enhancing comprehensive public safety initiatives. Please look out for your neighbors, friends, and family.

Jocelyn Nungaray’s funeral services will be held this Thursday. The community is invited to attend and pay their respects. Funeral services will be held at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery at 13102 North Freeway, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Donations can be made in tribute to Jocelyn at GoFundMe.

6/12 – Agenda Item #55: ORDINANCE appropriating $3,216,517.50 out of Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund; approving and authorizing Professional Engineering Services Contract between the City of Houston and WESTON SOLUTIONS, INC for Beltway Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements; providing funding for CIP Cost Recovery relating to construction of facilities financed by the Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund.
