Sharan Gahunia, the daughter of Raja Sweets founder Yogi Gahunia, fondly remembers the first time a Houston Asiatown Tours bus made a stop at her family’s legendary, foundational Mahatma Gandhi District restaurant and bakery.
“This bus pulled up and all these people got out … almost 28 to 30 people. It was just so nice, and I was taken aback by like, ‘Oh, what are you guys doing here?’ And they’re like, ‘Oh, we just tend to explore,’” she says. “And that’s pretty much how it started.”
