DISTRICT F NEWS

I am thankful to represent one of the best communities in the 4th largest American city. Every day I wake up with gratitude. This year I am thankful for my health, my family and the people in my life that I have the privilege of calling friend.

I am thankful for all the blessings that I have received during my life, including family and friends. I am thankful for the help with my career when I was working and for my good health and being able to enjoy retirement.

I am thankful for God’s comforting hand and the support of my friends and family. I am grateful to wake up daily to be a public servant and focus on supporting the community with my colleagues.

I am grateful to have friends and family that care about my health and make a difference in my daily life. I also am grateful for CM Thomas because she cares for the people in her district.

I’m thankful for God’s Grace and His Mercy.

I am thankful to be able to act as a vessel for my community and represent young minority leaders. I’m also thankful for my chunky pugs, calico cat and of course mamá y papa.

I’m thankful for the love of my friends and family.

SOLID WASTE OPERATIONS UPDATE

Yard waste is running as scheduled with minimal delays. However, some quadrants of the City may experience delays due to staffing shortages and equipment availability. Please continue to set out your yard waste on your service day. SWD crews will service every neighborhood.

REMINDER: WORK AUTHORIZATION: LEAWOOD

This work authorization has been issued to place traffic calming devices at Leawood. Construction is scheduled to commence on November 18, 2022 and is anticipated to end by December 30, 2022. The work authorization will take 42 days to be completed. The project contractor is DG Medina Construction, LLC.

COUNCILMEMBER PRESENTS AWARD AT THE UNCF GALA

On November 22nd, Councilmember Thomas presented Nicholas Perkins, CEO of Fuddruckers with the John and Drucie Chase Young Builder Award. It was a special moment as she was a recipient of this award in 2021.

COUNCILMEMBER THOMAS AND STAFF CONDUCTED A SITE VISIT

On November 17th, District F staff joined Councilmember Thomas at a site visit in the district. The team was able to identify the need for sidewalk replacement to mitigate sidewalk cracks and trip hazards. To date, the Council District Service Funds have been allocated to many infrastructure projects. We are continuing to accept projects for future fiscal years.

COUNCILMEMBER THOMAS HOSTS STUDENTS AND ATTENDS SEVERAL COMMUNITY EVENTS

On November 15th, Councilmember Thomas hosted students from Prarieview A&M University as they watched the Housing & Community Affairs committee meeting and met with her council colleagues and department leadership. She also presented a proclamation to the member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and spoke at the unavailing of the new Kennedy Spark Park where she has dedicated $15,000 of council funds.

Approved an award to SCM Consultants, Inc. on its low overall bid meeting specifications in the total amount of $129,217.77 for the purchase of miscellaneous technology items which includes but is not limited to hardcover and paperback books, DVDs, camcorders, adapters, card readers, video cameras, stabilizers, software licenses, musical instruments, oversized tablets, hand tools, scanners, dust masks, paper cutters, engravers, mouse pads, 3D printers, badge maker buttons, and audiovisual materials to be used by patrons at the Alief Techlink Houston Public Library.
