Solid Waste Management Department Collection and Facility Schedule for Christmas Holiday and New Year’s Day
Monday, December 20 – Friday, December 24, 2021
Residents will receive normal trash, yard waste and junk waste collections.  Monday and Tuesday residents will receive normal B-Week curbside recycling.  All
Neighborhood Depositories and Recycling Centers will be open.Thursday, December 23 – Friday, December 24, 2021
Thursday and Friday B-Week curbside recycling services will not be provided.  Thursday and Friday B-Week curbside recycling will receive collections on your next regularly scheduled collection day (Visit HERE for your next regularly scheduled collection day.)

Saturday, December 25, 2021 (Christmas Day)
CITY HOLIDAY: No Collections on Christmas day. All Solid Waste facilities are closed.Monday, December 27, 2021
CITY HOLIDAY:  All trash, curbside recycling, yard waste and junk waste will resume as scheduled.  All Neighborhood Depositories, Recycling Centers and administrative offices will be closed.

Tuesday, December 28 – Friday, December 31, 2021

DISTRICT F COUNCIL ITEMS PASSED
December 15, 2021 
Item No. 6 – Motion was passed to approve the final Contract Amount of $15,356,022.85 or 3.97% over the revised Contract Amount, accept the Work and authorize final payment.This project was part of the City Wide Panel Replacement program and was required to improve and maintain a safe road surface and accessibility.The project is being conducted in 12 various locations. The following are in District F.

The Contractor, Tikon Group, Inc., has completed the work under the subject Contract. The project was completed beyond the established completion date with an additional 365 days approved by Change Order No. 2. The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of the estimated unit price quantities, and previously approved Change Orders 1-3 is $15,356,022.85, an increase of $587,002.85 or 3.97% over the original Contract Amount and under the 5% contingency amount. The increased cost is a result of the difference between planned and measured quantities.

Item No. 41 – Motion passed to approve tORDINANCE approving and authorizing first amendment to Interlocal Agreement between City of Houston and HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT for HCFCD Unit D118-00-00-X007 Design and Construction of Repairs to City of Houston Hike and Bike Trail on a portion of Keegans Bayou.This project is part of the continuing effort by the City to construct request-based sidewalks, curbs, and ADA ramps throughout the City of Houston to meet the needs of the residents.This project is necessary to repair a portion of Keegan’s Hike and Bike Trail along HCFCD Unit D-118-00-00-X007.

The project area is located along Keegans Bayou and is generally bound by US 59 on the east, Kirkwood Street on the west, Bissonnet Street on the north and Bellfort Street on the south.

Item No. 47 – Motion was passed to appropriate $3,083,895.32 out of Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund, awarding contract to ALSAY INCORPORATED for Ground Water Well Rehabilitation Various Sites; setting a deadline for the bidder’s execution of the contract and delivery of all bonds, insurance, and other required contract documents to the City; holding the bidder in default if it fails to meet the deadlines; providing funding for CIP Cost Recovery, construction management, and contingencies relating to construction of facilities financed by the Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund

This project is part of the City’s program to upgrade and rehabilitate ground water production facilities.  It will meet the area’s water demand and ensure compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regulations.

This project consists of the rehabilitation of groundwater wells at various locations. The existing groundwater wells are old and have reduced pumping capacity from the wells due to wear of the pumps or plugging of the well screens. Rehabilitation of groundwater wells are required to meet the area’s water demand, the efficiency of the production facilities, increase public safety, and ensure compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regulations. The Contract duration for this project is 500 calendar days. This project was designed by WSP USA Inc.

Volunteer with CM Thomas and the District F as Volunteer Office Assistant
Contact [email protected] to sign up.Summary: The volunteer office assistant will perform a variety of tasks depending on project deadlines as well as day to day tasks in the District F office. This will include answering phones, retrieving the mail, composing emails, and other administrative tasks as assigned. This position helps to extend the resources in the office to better assist and direct the needs of our clients.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sending Emails
  • Research
  • Assisting in special projects
Requirements
  • Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Be courteous and personable when dealing with the public
  • Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented
  •  Respect and maintain confidentiality of the District F office, volunteers, partners, and donors.
  • Computer skills are required.
Training
  • The orientation will include training on: answering phones, filing systems, research, office conduct, computer usage, and cultural competency.
Time Commitment
  • Volunteers can choose to come into the office weekly, monthly or as needed by team.
