ECHOS – We Will Be Here….Until the Food Runs Out

Sorry to have been out of pocket and not communicating, but we have been very busy at ECHOS and I want to update all of you on what is happening “on the ground”.

ECHOS is considered one of the essential services to our community because we have a food pantry. Which is why we are still here, serving in a responsible, safe way, with very little direct contact with the families who come to us for help.

We remain committed to serving our community in a meaningful, responsible way. Social distancing is our goal for all of our services. Our food pantry is open to clients, who drive through to receive food put into their trunk. We have incorporated protective procedures for staff and neighbors.

Our financial assistance programs for rental assistance, utility assistance and mortgage assistance is needed now more than ever as a result of the economic crisis which has accompanied the health crisis. We have made changes and case managers are now interviewing clients by telephone and working with them electronically. This has been an opportunity for technology growth and learning for staff. But of course, there have been challenges too. We are learning as we go best practices for these things.

ECHOS will continue to update you as the things change. We will continue to operate in disaster mode until further notice. Together, we will meet the needs of the families we serve. Our clients, staff and volunteers will be in the forefront of all the decisions we make.

What do We Need You Ask?

Thank you for asking! We need your support! Either financially, or by an in kind donation of nonperishable foods!

If you are at the grocery store, and find yourself able to shop for nonperishable items you are willing to donate to our food pantry just drive by ECHOS. You can call us, and we will come to your car and get the items. We really need food to continue to feed our hungry families. Many of whom have lost their jobs during this crisis. You don’t need to come in. We will be wearing masks and gloves and will maintain the social distance required at this time.

Please contact Kathy Eckhardt if you plan to do this. Call 713-270-0369 when you are on the way to drop food off.

Also, we would love your prayers! Please pray for our families and staff during this difficult time.
Please consider signing up for one or more shifts to help our families.
