At the intersection of U.S. 59 and Beechnut, TIRR Memorial Hermann Southwest stands ready to provide the highest level of care for adults whose lives are affected by life-altering injuries or illnesses.

What was once the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital is now TIRR Memorial Hermann Southwest. A ribbon-cutting was held recently, where officials said the transformation provides greater access to care for patients and community members in Sharpstown, Gulfton, and beyond.

The location along the Highway 59 corridor ensures that patients and their families can access high-quality care without traveling far from home.

TIRR Memorial Hermann Southwest is located on the 8th floor of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, 7600 Beechnut St., in the Southwest Management District.

“We are proud to bring the TIRR Memorial Hermann brand of excellence to this region,” said Malisha Patel, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Southwest and Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital. “Our goal is to deliver the exceptional standards and care that TIRR Memorial Hermann is known for, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible outcomes.”

TIRR Memorial Hermann is currently the nation’s No. 2 ranked rehabilitation hospital.

The newly enhanced rehabilitation program in the District combines cutting-edge facilities with a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

The new facility features:

  • 18 private patient rooms
  • Two state-of-the-art therapy gyms that include gait and balance systems, a vehicle simulator and more.
  • A comprehensive Family Resource Center designed to assist those caring for patients.

TIRR Memorial Hermann Southwest will offer a comprehensive range of services, including care for patients with stroke, non-traumatic brain injury, neurologic and neuromuscular disorders, as well as cancer rehabilitation and general rehabilitation services.

TIRR Memorial Hermann’s expansion in southwest Houston is significant as the region sees a growing population of older adults, many of whom may need rehabilitation services close to home.

“We understand that rehabilitation medicine is key to bridging the gap between acute care and home,” said Rhonda Abbott, Senior Vice President and CEO at TIRR Memorial Hermann and the Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation Network.

“This transformation allows us to provide the best care possible, reduce hospital readmissions, and help patients regain their functionality and independence, getting them back to their homes and communities faster.”
