Celebrating the Year of the Horse

HOUSTON’S PREMIER FREE CULTURAL CELEBRATION

Every year the Chinese Community Center hosts the premier event in Southwest Houston, the Lunar New Year Festival. The Lunar New Year Festival is a market place of family fun, Chinese cultural awareness, community outreach, and business promotion. The festival is a multi-cultural Asian celebration showcasing East and West and the diversity of the City of Houston. With the support of local artists and performing groups, teach celebration attracts over 15,000 local and out-of-town visitors. Supported in part by the Houston Arts Alliance, the festival is held every year in January or February.

The 2014 celebration will be on Saturday, February 1, 2014, celebrating the Year of the Horse. Starting at 10am and lasting for 6 exciting hours, the large, newly renovated indoor auditorium at the Chinese Community Center hosts an array of riveting, beautiful, and inspiring performances to welcome the Lunar New Year.

2014 Tet Lunar New Year Parade

Saturday, February 1, 2014
Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. Lineup begins at 8:30am
Parade begins the the Kim Son Restaurant parking lot at 10603 Bellaire Blvd.
Parade ends the the Hastings 9th Grade Center parking lot at 6750 Cook Rd.


Texas Lunar Festival

Texas Lunar Festival

The Texas Lunar Festival will be located at 12509 Alief Clodine Road Houston, Texas 77082. The festival itself will be located in Amity Park, directly adjacent from Hastings High School Football Stadium. Parking at the Festival is Free.

Festival Hours: Saturday, February 8, 2014 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Entertainment begins at 10:30 am and continues until 5:00 pm.

Traffic Switch on Bellaire Construction:

The City of Houston completed its traffic switch last week on the Bellaire construction. Two eastbound lanes and two westbound lanes have been switched to the south side of Bellaire, as construction crews begin work on the north side lanes. Please observe traffic laws and reduce speed while driving through the construction zone. Allow extra travel time, as there may be expected delays in the Chinatown area in the days leading up to Lunar New Year, which begins Friday, January 31st.

The Greater Sharpstown Management District is paying for Houston Police Department officers to work at the following intersections:

Corporate @ Belliare – to enforce “No Left Turns” off Bellaire and to help with Lunar New Year traffic:
