Southwest Houston District J

Welcoming our New HPD Chief and Captains

District J has been blessed in the past with a great team of Houston Police Department personnel in Southwest Houston.

Recently, Chief Provost, of our area's overarching Patrol Region 3, and South Gessner Division's Captain Robertson retired from HPD after many years of service. We wish them a long, fruitful and enjoyable retirement. Former Midwest Division Captain Dale has assumed service in HPD's Vice Command, and past Westside Division Captain Follis has undertaken duties in HPD's Narcotics Division. We thank them for their service to District J as well.

As we begin a new chapter, we welcome Chief Baimbridge, who transferred from the Mental Health Division as the new Chief of Patrol Region 3. District J also welcomes Acting Captain Bashir for the Midwest Division, Captain Bellamy for the South Gessner Division and Captain Faulhaber to the Westside Division.

Peace Officers Memorial Day

peace officer memorial day

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy issued a proclamation designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.

Houston Police Department will hold its annual Police Officers Memorial Service on Friday, May 19th beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the HPD Memorial Monument (2100 Memorial Drive.) I know you will join me in holding all our men and women in blue, and their loved ones, in our prayers.

Deputy Voter Registrar Training

YES Prep Gulfton, BakerRipley and the Harris County Tax Office will host a Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar Training on Tuesday, May 23rd at 4:15pm at the Yes Prep Gulfton Campus (6565 De Moss Dr.)

In order to encourage voter registration, Texas election law provides for County Voter Registrars to designate individuals to assist in the registration of eligible persons to vote. These individuals are appointed as Volunteer Deputy Registrars and operate under State rules and the supervision of the County Voter Registrar.
